In 2010 Dan and Nancy made the decision to open Blackstone Gun Safety in Hillsboro, Oregon. We taught the Oregon, Utah and Arizona concealed carry classes and did some live fire training.  From a very humble beginning we grew to be one of the largest CCW training companies in the state.

In 2014 Dan made his first trip to Front Sight in Pahrump and was so impressed with the training that he decided he wanted to start organizing trips so that the people who were getting their carry permits could also get some excellent defensive training. 

In 2015 when we came back to Front Sight with 15 other shooters and everyone loved it. After that we came twice a year and the groups averaged 25 to 35 people.

We could see the political climate of Oregon changing from conservative to liberal, so...
In 2018 we decided it was time to make a move so we came to Pahrump, fully intending to retire after selling the business in Oregon.  Well, we lasted 6 months, way longer than our friends in Oregon were betting we would, and decided we really missed the business so we started Blackstone Gun Safety in Nevada in September of 2019.

In the beginning we only did CCW classes and one-on-one live fire training. We continued to organize trips to Front Sight with our students here and we coordinated with BGS in Oregon so we had some very fun classes and got to see a lot of old friends.

When Front Sight closed several people suggested we start doing defensive handgun training and after careful consideration we did just that.  We now offer that class plus defensive rifle, shotgun and an advanced handgun class. We still do the CCW classes as well as one-on-one basic handgun for new shooters.

We have based the classes on Front Sight and have 2 of their excellent Range Masters running the classes but we have also made changes so we can do in 2 days what they did in 4. We focus on doing not listening.

We believe every person has the right to defend themselves and their loved ones and we know that to do that you need training and practice, instinct is not enough. We want to give people the skills they need to stay alive in a life-or-death situation.
